Also, there have NEVER been 2600 coffeeshops in Holland, only 600 nationwide, and now there are only 550, so Costa got that 'wrong'.

Also Mario Costa states something very ridiculous, namely that the Mayor of Amsterdam, moved coffeeshops out of the center of town and toward... the Dutch borders? No mayor has any such authority. His remit ends at the city's boundaries. He can't impose coffeeshops on different towns or provinces (for his information, Amsterdam does not extend to the eastern border). And the mayor of the real Maastricht is pushing for complete decriminalisation.

Today and tomorrow, there is a conference going on in The Hague, to put cannabis 'on trial'. They want to go for complete legalisation, not just decriminalisation. cannabistribunaal /nl

Nope, not that simple.. A christian party is ruling now, making more strict policies against coffeeshops - only creating more problems. Demand stays da same, but less locations to suply. The other (not-closed) coffeeshops get more custumers to handle, but have a max limit weed storage. When 10 times more cars are stopping by to buy some weed, neighbours get sick of it, and will complain - making the next coffeeshop getting closed. Numbers of drugdealers on street are rising right now..

I wonder why there is fewer coffee shops selling cannabis in the Netherlands...BECAUSE THERE IS LESS DEMAND! It's simple economics! |
