Writing Poems Is A Saintly thingWriting poems is a saintly thing, the heart bursts likefeeding red chickens on a green hill, or sitting on a balloon coming down to a window sill in time for morning to welcome me into your early rise of bacon & rolls & that tune on the radio for dancing around the kitchen tabol with spoons in yr mouth. One room is all I'll ever own in eternity, one bed-- Memory ramblingsOver tall mountains carrying me away to that nomads land where to breathe is but to sigh at a lost dream that rolls away from the eyes---Rain & snow a clock on my window What good is my room it cannot holdall the people in the world and chairs lonely because built for only one?I tell you youth wants more of this world than our farthers left us, A mirror makes two & that's a blessing.Grinding my teeth for lack of love, walking into a cathedral is like walking into a cold stove like into a glove.I know the angel behind the door will bring me good paintings before long. All angels meet on the curve of the earth & form a line that becomes a bridge to the sun.

How wonderful to stumble upon this. Many of us miss Peter Orlovsky, the difficult man, the saint. I am happy to hear he is in Vermont, but somehow he always seems to appear on the streets of Manhattan.

He has a caretaker? Jesus... what's wrong with him? Life gives us a taste of what it must be like to be immortal then WHAM... Age sets in. I still feel immortal. But I'm aware it won't last.

I heard from Peter's caretaker that he was living in a little house in Vermont and being well cared for----no details.

Brilliant reading. What ever happened to Peter Orlovsky? Is he still alive? I need to read more of his poems. This was insightful.
