well, not to knock marilyn but he's kind of a by product of the movement. i don't think brian would really consider his music "goth" although there are overtones (image and such). i think the band has been a mix of alot of different styles (glam, cyber, shock, etc.) so i personally wouldn't really call them "goth " in a sense. personally, i've always seen the band as a mix of thrill kill kult, bowie and alice cooper...

oh, i didn't forget darkwave, i just didn't want to break everything off into so many categories as has happened in the past 10 years or so. i loved it when everything was under one umbrella and you didn't have to classify it as such. again, as i stated yesterday, when it comes to goth, everything from the eary velvets to early mary chain to the misfits (early)and all the stuff i mentioned on my last post up to The Vanishing,The Birthday Massacre and others are all good....

I agree on what Miketb42 said.Yet he is forgetting Darkwave, which is really worth mentioning for my point of view.Darkwave is gothic rock mixed with electronics, creating a dark and moody atmosphere while still being pretty progressive.As part of Darkwave, you should check out bands like: Clan of Xymox, Diary of Dreams, The Frozen Autumn, Diorama, Das Ich (actually an EBM/Darkwave crossover) and Project Pitchfork (also a crossover).

you may want to start with some bauhaus off shoots(love and rockets, tones on tail, peter murphy solo (early stuff)plus sister groups like The Mission, sisters of mercy, fields of the nephilim, alien sex fiend,christian death,lords of the new church,etc..plus crossover "industrial" groups like throbbing gristle,psychic tv,current 93,death in june, kmfmd(early stuff),ministry,front 242,non,skinny puppy,combichristand others. also look up the "batcave"(legendary gothic club)here on you tube..

could you tell me what are some other goth bands to listen to (besides Dead Can Dance and Bauhaus) because I was a poser for the last few years then discovered Bauhaus and now consider myself a Baby Bat.
